07.14.2012 Neues Museum: The Green Head and the Golden Hat

I was supposed to go to the Neue Nationalgalerie, but by the time I pulled myself out of bed, I had to change my plans (because it was closing) and I went to the Neue Museum instead. (Not the same)  I think the alternate name for the Neue Museum is the Egyptian museum, and although the title says the Green Head and the Golden Hat, I did not see either artefacts. But! This has been the most amusing museum visit yet!

Thank you David Chipperfield
The Neues Museum holds Egyptian, Prehistory, and Early History collections, which make me wonder why it's called "New", but let's not go into that. Although its content is the leftover pieces that don't fit inside the Altes Museum, the collection was good, and I had a really amusing time because many of the artifacts had funny faces on them (See below). But what was even better was the interior of the museum. Its not some modern remake or contemporary art piece (which I enjoy too), but a thoughtful remodel of its original form, and walking through it, you can imagine the original place must have been beautiful. Each room has a different style to it, and the floor is covered in brightly coloured tesselations.. Actually I take it back, the faces triumph over the interior. See for yourself.
