02.10.2012 GRAFT Architects - Distinct Ambiguity

This was a last call to check out the exhibition by GRAFT Architects. It is a view of the 21st Century carried out through the working methods of GRAFT. The exhibition, titled Distinct Ambiguity, attempts to explain their work and inspirations through worlds that they create by asking and answering questions like: How is beauty created? Why is narration important for architecture? How do you invent test strategies of forgetting? How is style the opposite of curiosity, and How is ambiguous interestingness created?

"If you never leave, you can never come home. The world is too culturally diverse to view it from one single perspective"

The spatial and visual experience of a project, in the widest sense is probably the most obvious example of ambiguity. As well, they have this sort of seemingly indeterminate form for many of their projects which is so distinctly GRAFT. They claim to aim to create a kind of architectural hybrid that sets itself in a future culture. I really know nothing about architecture, but I can appreciate form. In any case, if you don't know them, you should check them out, they're pretty cool. http://www.graftlab.com/
